Welcome to the Human Society and It's Environment Faculty. As the long title suggests, we cover a broad range of subjects often referred to as the 'Humanities' because they all have the common theme of 'human kind' and the world around them - contemporary, past and future.

Subjects covered by H.S.I.E. are:

  • Stage 4: History and Geography
  • Stage 5: History and Geography with Commerce as an elective.
  • Stage 6: Aboriginal Studies, Business Studies, Economics, Geography, Legal Studies, Ancient History, Modern History

Year 11 Aboriginal Studies - Excursion

Year 11 Aboriginal Studies will be heading off on an eleven day tour from Wednesday 30th of September to Saturday 10th of October. Ms. Holland and Dave Ella will be taking the students on an extended road trip that will take in Broken Hill, Cobar, Dubbo, Lake Mungo and other areas along the way and learning about past and present Aboriginal communities in this region of NSW. Should be an exciting tour and a good excuse to choose Aboriginal Studies for students entering into year 11.

Year 10 Geography

The Sights and Smells of Waste Management.

Mrs Burge will be taking her 10G4 and 10G7 classes on an excursion to the Buttonderry Waste Management Facility and to the Norraville Sewage Treatment Works. Students will be completing their mandatory field study requirements while there. Nose pegs are optional.

HSC Geography

E-mail Print PDF

Year 12 Geography have been working hard towards their HSC in the last part of thisimg_6011 year. Part of this hard work has been several early morning starts catching trains to Sydney for field work as part of the HSC course on Urban Places and Tourism as an Economic Activity. As the students would agree, every train trip was an 'adventure' and an experience to remember - such as not jumping over ticket barriers as one particular student found out.

The  excursion was to learn more about a img_6006tourist activity - Quay West Hotel - which gave students an insight into the running of a five star luxury hotel. Like each of the excursions, this gave students a chance to observe a side of Sydney many never get the chance to see and hopefully something to remember during the HSC exam.

I wish students all the best for the HSC, study well, RELAX, remember some of the fun stuff we did and you should be prepared to do well. GOOD LUCK.
