SUCCESS FOR YOUTH PROGRAM

MONDAY 29 SEPTEMBER 2009

This Monday all year 7 students will participate in a success for youth program run by teachers. The aim of the day is to provide students with a greater ability to set long and short term, attainable goals along with some career coaching so they may discover their future job direction.

Activities planned include special guest speakers from the community such as a Central Coast Mariner, police office and ambulance officer.

Students will then work in class groups on a specialised program. Lunch will be a BBQ for a nominal cost to the students.

Appropriate casual clothes (school uniform is not required) may be worn. However any student not dressed appropriately will not be able to participate.

Normal school hours will be kept.

Welcome to the Year 7 Core department. Gorokan High implements the Core Teaching program for year 7 whereby each year 7 student has the same (or core) teacher for more than one subject. This is done to ease the transition from primary school and to create a stable, predictable and nurturing environment for students to begin their higher education.

Currently year 7 are taught English, Mathematics and Language (French) by Core Teachers.

Like the earths core. Year 7 Core is the fundamental structure to beginning a successful high school experience.
